President's Message

October 2005

First, I’d like to extend my gratitude to those of you whom elected and voted me into this new leadership role. I’d also like to extend my congratulations to all our members who passed the most recent CISA exam. Studying for a challenging exam, along with demanding family and work schedules is not an easy task, but your persistence has paid off. You are now part of the professional body recognized for excellence in IS auditing, control and security. Accordingly, we would like to recognize your accomplishment during our November event.

Speaking of our upcoming event, the Charlotte Chapter has reached another milestone and will be celebrating 25 years on November 8th. We have some great speakers lined up for this session and the keynote will be Cynthia Cooper, the WorldCom whistleblower who will come and share a very interesting story about how she and her internal audit team uncovered the largest corporate fraud in US history. Special presentations will be held and we’re giving away DVD Players and other great prizes -You don’t want to miss this event!!

ISACA International recently announced that the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has accredited the CISA and CISM certifications under ISO/IEC 17024:2003. This accreditation means that ISACA’s procedures meet ANSI’s essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process in accordance with the ISO 17024 standard. This is great news for all CISAs and CISMs!

In addition to the Chapter’s job postings, ISACA International now has on-line postings available to members in the Career Centre. For more information, see http://www.jobs.isaca.org.

Last but not least, we’re excited about the steady growth our Chapter continues to experience. We currently have over 400 members, which represents significant growth over the last year. I’m sure you all can imagine that as we increase in numbers, so do the demands of our members. With that said, if anyone is interested in volunteering please let me know. We’re always looking for committed members who will share in our vision of being the recognized leader in the Carolinas for IT governance, control and assurance.
