Our Speakers…

Marilyn Carpenter

Marilyn Carpenter is a certified Business Coach who engages with businesses and individual clients through her practice V. James Coaching Consortium. She conducts workshops for businesses and individuals on the topics of creating value, sales leadership for the 21st century, and effective go-to-market business strategies.

Her first book, Open Sesame: Why It's All About ACCESS for the New Worker of the 21st Century was published in September 2009.  Written against the backdrop of our global age and post-2008 recession, Carpenter reveals the truth to readers about ending their work struggles and finding the work they are uniquely gifted for.

Prior to founding V. James Coaching Consortium, Marilyn enjoyed a successful, twenty-five year career in sales and executive sales leadership in the technology industry and for a Charlotte technology company for 14 years.  While successful in this capacity, her biggest challenge came when the company promoted her to VP of Sales and asked her retain and retrain all of the sales people to sell an entirely new product line.  It was her first confrontation with the idea of talent and why individuals either really thrive in their roles or simply do not succeed.  This is where her obsession with talent began and the vital role that talent plays in the success - or failure - of businesses.

Carpenter is the creator and facilitator of ACCESS Coaching, a learning and certification program for job seekers to be choice seekers and become irreplaceable talents in their perfect fit job.  Carpenter is co-creator and facilitator for Interact Live, a unique, interactive conversation series for leaders in Charlotte, North Carolina, presented by Salum International and Interact. She lives in Charlotte with her husband Eric and daughter Sydney. As a leading advocate for the worker, Marilyn regularly writes on topics relevant to workers and leaders alike. She invites readers to email her at mlc@vjames.net and to connect with her online.  Marilyn writes a weekly blog http://osaccess.net on topics relevant to workers and leaders alike.
